Uganda Bird Watching Tour
Duration: 16 Nights / 17 Days
Destinations: Arusha - Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National
Park - Ngorongoro Crater - Manyara National Park - Arusha
Day 1: Airport transfer to check in at the hotel. Afternoon birding in
the botanical gardens and the Heritage Park trail. Expect to spot Great Black
headed Gull, Little ringed Plover, European turtle dove, Crowned Hornbill, Slender
billed Gulls, Angola Swallow, Rock pratincoles, Diederik Cuckoo and the like.
Overnight Windsor Lake Victoria.
Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park with an afternoon en route
birdwatching tour to the top of the falls. Birding through the Budongo Forest
and along the Sambiya Riverine forest Valley introduces you to Silverbird, Steel
Blue Whydah, Viteline masked weaver, Rock pratincoles, Palmnut Vulture, Black
Kite. Meals and overnight at Nile Safari Camp.
Day 3: Morning launch cruise aboard the shoebill boatto the
delta area for a half day bird watching cruise in the swamps. Bird species here
include the rare shoebilled, saddle Billed & Abdims Stork . Also look
out for Pied Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher and the African skimmer. Return
for lunch then take an evening drive though the park to arrive late evening
for Dinner and overnight at Nile Safari Camp.
Day 4: Morning transfer to Pabidi Forest. Birds here include the Black
collared Lovebird, Brown Illadopsis, Jamesons Wattle eye, Brown Twin spot
and others. Later after lunch, take another boat cruise to the Delta. Water
birds residing in the rich swamps here include Grey Headed Kingfisher, Great
white egret, African Darter, Spoon bills, Black crake, and the Lilly trotter.
Meals and overnight at Nile Safari Camp.
Day 5: Depart for Fortportal arriving late afternoon for an evening bird
walk highlighting the Scaly Francolin, Black bellied seed cracker, Marsh Tchagra,
Narina Trogons and many more along the edges of the Kibale Forest National Park.
Meals and overnight at Ndali Lodge.
Day 6: Fullday in Kibale and Bigodi swamp which will probably yield spotting
of Abyssinian ground Thrush, Papyrus Gonolek, Snowy Robin chat, Grey - capped
Robin chat, White spotted Flufftail..Meals and overnight Ndali Lodge.
Day 7: To Semuliki Game Reserve with birdwatching and boat cruises on
Lake Albert. Most common birds here include Black winged oriole, ground thrush,
spot-breasted Ibis, White Throated Blue Swallow, Grants Blue Bill, Dwarf
Kingfisher. Meals and overnight at Semuliki Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Morning birding and afternoon birding. overnight at Semuliki Safari
Lodge.
Day 9: Depart for Queen Elizabeth arriving for afternoon Kazinga Channel
Launch cruise. You will most likely spot, African Skimmer, White Pelican, White
faced whistling duck, African Fish Eagle, Comorants and other birds.
Day 10: This, you will have a morning birding before returning to the
bird hide at Mweya where spotting of birds will be done in concealment. Meals
and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 11: Birding en route to Bwindi along the Maramagambo Forest Margins
before arriving Bwindi Impenetrable Park for an evening bird walk along the
Munyaga River. This walk is recommended for the spotting of Blue fly catcher,
Ludhers bush shrike, Long crested eagle. Meals and overnight at Bwindi
Tented Camp.
Day 12: Morning take a guided forest walk in the Bwindi Impenetrable
forest for the forest endemics. See, Black roughwing swallow, Mackinons
Grey Shrike, Great blue turaco and many other species. Meals and overnight at
Bwindi Tented Camp.
Day 13: Transfer to the Ruhija Sector of Bwindi birding along the way
where you will most probably spot Shelleys Crimson wing, Green tinkerbird,
Mountain Illadopsis, Handsome francolin, yellow billed barbet, carruthers
Dusky crimsonwing.... Meals and overnight at Ruhija Mobile Camp.
Day 14: Morning after breakfast, take a bird wacthing trip to the facinating
Mubwindi Swamp. This is a spot for the Archers Robin chat, Slender billed starlings
and many more. Meals and overnight at Ruhija Mobile Camp.
Day 15: Travel to Lake Mburo National park arriveing late evening for
a bird walk in the park. Meals and overnight at Mantana Mburo Tented Camp.
Day 16: Fullday in Lake Mburo National Park where walks are allowed in
the park. Birding walks can also be done along the Lake shore to see Pelican,
Marabou Stork, African Fish Eagle, barefaced go away birds, broad billed roller,
Black bellied bustards, Blue napped mousebird, Temmincks courser, Greater
Blue eared starling, Yellow throated long claw, spur winged plover........Meals
and overnight at Mantana Mburo Tented Camp.
Day 17: Morning transfer to Kampala and proceed to Entebbe airport for
your departure flight.
